THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region refused to comment on the reaction of the Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte over the decision to relieve Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Vicente Danao Jr.
Duterte earlier expressed disappointment after Danao was relieved Monday from his post as DCPO head. The mayor said he would have wanted Danao to be the chief but he has no power to overturn the relief order issued by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, Davao PRO chief of staff, said there will be a fact-finding board to determine whether the charges for grave misconduct and physical injuries filed against Danao by his estranged wife will affect his performance.
"[As to the comment of the city mayor], no comment kami diyan. May punto naman yung mga sinabi ni mayor, but the PNP kasi has procedures to follow. It's part of the procedure. Colonel Danao may or may not come back, depende yan sa board," Cascolan said.
Cascolan added that the decision of the board is different from the Regional Internal Affairs Service in Davao.
Danao was administratively relieved after PRO Director Wendy Rosario issued the order to the former dated September 1, 2014. The DCPO director will be reassigned at the PRO Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit while the investigation is still ongoing. (ICT)
