PRO-Negros Island Region gets 463 police recruits

THE Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has recruited 463 trainee-policemen for the region.

The recruits took an oath in rites held at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office headquarters in Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr., Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City Sunday afternoon, July 16.

Of the 463 recruits, 109 were females while 354 were males.

Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, acting director of PRO-NIR, reminded the recruits to be responsible as they enter the police service.

“You should also bear in mind the opportunities you may avail because of your hard work,” Gonzales said.

The recruits will undergo a six-month training, to be followed by another six months of field training program.

They will be deployed in different units after one year, Gonzales said.

Only 463 out of 750 applicants passed the procedural requirements since January.

Gonzales said the PRO-NIR did not reach the quota provided by the Philippine National Police headquarters but there will be additional hiring in the next recruitment process.
