PRO-NIR turnover set October 6

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) will end its operations in Negros Island Region (NIR) on October 6, coinciding with the turnover of personnel to both PROs in Western and Central Visayas, in rites to be held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, director of PRO-NIR, said the affected PRO-NIR personnel, including himself, will be given new assignments.

Gonzales will return to the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame while waiting for his next assignment.

All the regional offices under the NIR are scheduled to shut down operations by October 9, or 60 days after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Executive Order 38 abolishing the region.

The displaced 11 senior superintendents have applied for vacancies in other regions, he said.

The PRO-NIR will turn over its 3,495 personnel in Negros Occidental to the PRO-Western Visayas.

The personnel include 1,944 from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office; 743 from Bacolod City Police Office; 274 from Regional Public Safety Battalion; 315 from Class Sinag-Lahi; and Class Masiklab, 219.

The total number is comprised of 158 police commissioned officers; 3,121 police non-commissioned officers; and 216 non-uniformed personnel.

The PRO-NIR has a total of 5,387 policemen and staff. The remaining 1,892 personnel will be endorsed to the PRO-Central Visayas.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-NIR shut down its operations Saturday after its personnel held their last day of office on September 29.

Senior Superintendent Fred Trajeras Jr., acting director of BFP-NIR, said they have completed clearing their office at the second floor of Gaisano Grand mall in this city.

On Friday, BFP-NIR also held the graduation of 94 firemen recruits to be assigned to various fire stations in Negros Occidental.

The BFP-NIR turned over 650 personnel to the regional offices in Western and Central Visayas, including 411 personnel for Western Visayas, and 239 for Central Visayas.
