Project to continue help Haiyan survivors in Iloilo

AN agreement that will help rebuild the lives of Super Typhoon Haiyan survivors in Northern Iloilo will be signed next week by the Province of Iloilo and other organizations.

The agreement between the Province of Iloilo, Action Aid-Philippines and Balay Mindanaw Foundation will pave the way for the implementation of a project that aims to restore the livelihood of 1,500 marginal farmers and fisherfolk in the towns of Concepcion, San Dionisio, Estancia, Batad, and Carles.

The project involves the procurement of 130 hand tractors and 65 rice threshers for the productivity of the surviving families of the typhoon victims in the areas ravaged by Haiyan.

The agricultural machineries are expected to help the farmers increase their family’s income while they contribute to the attainment of food security of their community.

Italian Development Cooperation funded the project €458,873.60 (P23.5-million) that will start on August 18, 2015 and will end on April 26, 2016. (PIO)
