Public warned vs fake Ceneco employees

AN OFFICIAL of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) warned the public against persons who introduce themselves as inspectors of the power utility.

Nelfa Malibe, head of Ceneco's Member-Consumers Service Section, issued the warning after a consumer was victimized recently by a person who introduced himself as an employee of the power firm.

According to Malibe, Carmela Bacolod gave the suspect P2,500 for the electrical wiring of her house that is under construction. The suspect used an identification card (ID) that is almost similar to the ID of Ceneco employees and that the suspect is so well-versed with Ceneco's operation.

The victim was told by the suspect that her name was already in the records of Ceneco for connection and that she has to see to it that her house's electrical wiring would comply with the standards of Ceneco so that she would not have a problem with her energization.

The suspect was described by the victim as tall and dark with a well built body. He is using a motorcycle and is using a helmet.

Malibe said this is not the first time that a consumer complained of being victimized by a fake agent of Ceneco. Some of the previous complainants described the same suspect.

Malibe said to make sure that consumers would not fall into the hands of fake agents, they should call their office and verify the identity of the person who is claiming to be an employee of the utility firm. (TED)
