Puerto Princesa vice mayor nabbed in anti-narcotics raid

ANTI-narcotics operatives recovered on Monday morning at least 30 sachets of suspected shabu and several firearms during a raid in the residence of Puerto Princesa City Vice Mayor Luis Marcaida III.

In the service of search warrant issued by Manila City Regional Trial Court Executive judge Reynaldo Alhambra, elements of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the local police conducted the raid around 6 a.m. at Marcaida’s house.

The issuance of the search warrant stemmed from Marcaida’s alleged illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs.

Aside from shabu, P280,000 cash, one .22 calibre rifle, three rifle grenades, one fragmentation grenade, and four .45 calibre pistols were also recovered.

Marcadia was arrested and was brought to Puerto Princesa police office for proper disposition. (SunStar Philippines)
