Queen City United routs Air Force in UFL Cup

TWO years after crashing out without a win or scoring a single goal in the UFL Cup, the Cebu Queen City United returned with a bang, blanking the Philippine Air Force (PAF), 3-0, yesterday at the Emperador Stadium.

Queen City, which skipped Division 2 last season, needed just seven minutes to take the lead with Pintho Kabulo banging in Ariel Cahilig’s strike.

PAF forced Charles Villarta to a save a few minutes later, while Junard Aguilar got his shot at goal in the 14th.

In the 19th, Ahmed Canada hit a marvelous free kick from left wing to make it 2-0 and nine minutes later, Lemar Baunsit connected with Kabulo for his second goal and a comfortable 3-0 lead by Queen City at half-time.

The win puts Cebu Queen City on top of Group C with three points, while Agila FC and Bright Star FC share second spot with a point after their 1-1 draw.

Favorites and defending champion Stallion FC, which also won the league last season, will have its debut against Agila FC on Wednesday. Cebu Queen City will also shoot for its second win against Bright Star on Sunday before taking on the dangerous Stallion FC on Oct. 20.
