Regus to expand in Davao City

REGUS, a global workplace provider, is looking into further expanding within Davao City in the coming years.

"As an 'incubator for investors', Regus will continue to support businesses to establish and expand operations in Davao amidst the current martial law, and we believe that such collaboration would inevitably bolster Davao's development," Lars Wittig, Regus Philippine Country Manager, said in a statement.

Wittig, during a press conference on Friday, July 7, at Regus Davao, Topaz Tower, Damosa IT Park, said they are eyeing expansion opportunities in Davao City also due to the increasing demand for their business center.

He said they have currently around 80 percent occupancy comprised of 25 companies with around 300 employees. He said 60 percent of these are foreign companies while 40 percent are Filipino-owned companies. They have also been receiving around 40 monthly inquiries since they opened.

"Despite [Regus Davao] being the largest center in the Philippines, with the overwhelming demand, then it is also our obligation to look for more opportunities to expand here in Davao," Wittig said.

He said Regus hopes to continue with their partnership with Damosa Land in establishing other centers in the city.

"They (Damosa Land) are our preferred partner here because we have proven to work well together but of course it also depends on what their developments here now and we might be forced this time around to get alternatives," Wittig said.

He added, "Because we cannot wait two or three years to open another center. In two or three years from now, we might open our fifth center in Davao City but we are not waiting that long to open a second."

Wittig said they have no definite timeline yet as to when they will be opening the second center but he said they are hoping to announce it by the end of this year.

He said the next center will be similar to their center in Topaz Tower but their center at the Topaz Tower will remain to be their largest center in the Philippines.
