Relatives of 'Barok', 3 others nabbed in drug busts

FIVE suspected pushers, including the relative of detained "drug lord" Alvaro "Barok" Alvaro, were caught past midnight Thursday, December 14, in a series of drug busts in the villages of Looc and Poblacion in Danao City, Cebu.

Alvaro's relative is identified as Christian Alvaro Sanchez, said Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, the city police commander.

On Tuesday dawn, December 12, Alvaro's other relative, Charles Alvaro Murillo, was arrested in a drug bust in Looc.

Aside from Sanchez, Dario Mangas Matiga, Lloyd Penas Singculan and Joselito Almacen Batulan were also caught.

Seized were 20 small packs of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu." The contraband has a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P13,000.

Operatives confiscated P650 in cash beleived to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade.

Suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
