Retired fireman and partner shot in Toledo

A RETIRED fireman and his common law wife were shot by unidentified gunmen in Sitio Nangka, Barangay Subayon, Toledo City, Cebu at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 25.

Victims former Senior Fire Officer 2 Isabelo Gamboa Diaz, 62, and Iris Jane Acedera Manlangit, 25, had gunshot wounds in their heads and other parts of their bodies.

Investigation showed Diaz was driving his red motorcycle with Manlangit as his passenger. They came from Barangay Cabitoonan and they were on their way home in Subayon when the attack happened.

The culprits, possibly two or more, fired upon them in Nangka.

Diaz tried to evade them, but the gunmen chased and continued shooting until Diaz's motorcycle crashed at a hillside.

Some residents saw the culprits walk towards Barangay Ibo after the murder.

Nine empty shells of .45 and .9mm pistols, a slug, a Black Widow .22 Magnum revolver, a black holster, a holstered .45 pistol with magazine loaded with seven bullets, and two magazines with 13 bullets were found by the investigators.

The victim's motorcycle, cell phone, a pair of sun glasses, a wallet containing P5,240 in cash, identification cards, and licenses were kept by the police. (SunStar Cebu)
