Retired teacher loses P60,000 to swindlers

A RETIRED teacher lost cash worth P60,000 to four unidentified swindlers at Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental last Thursday, July 6.

Police records showed the 87-year-old teacher was walking along the Capitol highway around 10 a.m. with her female helper when a woman approached them and introduced herself as her former student.

Another woman also approached them and asked them about the location of a pharmacy, then a vehicle driven by a man with a female passenger arrived and told them that he will bring them to the pharmacy.

When they reached the pharmacy, the supposed former student asked the victim if she has cash, and convinced her to withdraw money from the automated teller machine.

After the transaction, the victim waited for the vehicle to return until the afternoon, but the four people never came back.

She then discovered that a bundle of papers was inside her bag, and her money was missing. (GYM)
