Rhythms & riddles of Copacabana

“THE first time I went to Rio, I was in love with the place! The energy, the people, the music—there’s this rhythm. Every time you talk to them, when you’re with them; there’s just a certain rhythm that vibes through,” Jarra Angbetic gushed as she recalled visiting Rio de Janeiro.

From the festive tunes, the scenery to the locals, it is this lively and bustling city that she’s been to, that the gemologist and jewelry designer takes inspiration behind her holiday 2016 collection called Copacabana.

Graduating with a degree in Gemology from the International Gemological Academy in Colombo, Sri Lanka and a Diamond Grader diploma from HRD Antwerp in Belgium, she returned to her hometown Cebu City to showcase the collection under her eponymous label through her first trunk show in collaboration with Holicow PH, a design concept store, at its showroom located in Crossroads, Banilad last Nov. 11.

Having traveled different countries and visited different cities, she shares that one of the things that truly inspires her are her travels apart from a myriad of muses from interactions with people, experiences and sentiments, to name a few.

Jarra’s new collection of fine jewelry shows a merry mix of classic settings with precious gems with pieces like samba, piña colada, caiparinha and guaraná, among others.

Resonating and inspired by the summery flora and fruits, each design immerses one into the dynamic and tropical lifestyle of one of Brazil’s busiest cities in the form of artful conceptions.
