TANGCAL, Lanao del Norte -- Vice President Leni Robredo spent some time with Maranao farmers and women in Biruar village on Tuesday, March 21.
Robredo visited the village at 10 a.m. with provincial and municipal officials for a proposed livelihood assistance program for the conflict-affected community.
She assured the farmers for assistance with the help of a partnership with non-government organizations and private companies committed to extend livelihood programs through agricultural production.
Farmers made their testimonies of experiences on how they were affected in armed conflict.
The vice president identified some of the partners including Xavier University and Nestle Philippines for coffee production, coco product development, corn and peanut production.
"What we need is your total cooperation and be productive to reduce hunger and alleviate the people from poverty," said Robredo.
Robredo was joined by Mayor Fatima Mutia Tomawis, Vice Mayor Dardagan Maliawao of Tangcal, Governor Imelda Quibranza- Dimaporo, Vice Governor Cristy Atay and Samira Gutoc Tomawis, including a representative of Bangsamoro Women and other provincial officials.
During the program, no media representatives were allowed to conduct an interview with Robredo.
