Rough sea in Pangasinan due to Ruby

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMC) has called on fishermen in western Pangasinan not to venture into the sea yet as high waves are high and dangerous for small fishing vessels.

The PDRRMO issued the warning though the province may likely be spared by Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit).

The warning was issued by PDRRMO to prevent a situation where fishermen may be lost in the west Philippine Sea again which could spawn another feverish search that oftentimes would be costly.

Though it was confirmed that Pangasinan is not in the path of Ruby, sea waves are high and dangerous to fishermen using small bancas and motorboats, the PDRRNO said.

The PDRRMO, through its spokesperson Avenix Arenas, said it already warned barangay captains of coastal villages to watch out for the fishermen who may insist on sailing in the rough sea despite the coming typhoon. (PNA)
