Ruby postpones run, cancels triathlon

DUE to Typhoon Ruby, the Run for Planet 2014 set tomorrow has been postponed to Dec. 28 at the same venue at the Ayala Terraces.

This was announced by technical race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts yesterday.

“We will put first the safety of the participants, and that made us decide on this changing of schedule,” said Baring.

The race, organized by Mandaue Foam, will have the same categories—the 21-kilometer half-marathon, 12K, 6K and 3K.

Gun start for all the divisions will still be the same as earlier announced.

As of yesterday, close to 1,000 runners have enlisted for the race. Organizers are expecting 1,500 runners to join. The organizers will also extend its registration period.

Meanwhile, the Enervon Activ 226 Bohol triathlon slated today at Bellevue Bohol Resort in Panglao, Bohol was canceled due to Typhoon Ruby.

Cebuano triathletes registered for the race received an email yesterday informing them of the cancellation of the race.
