DAVAO City seasoned shuttler Arthur Samuel "Pingkoy" Salvado Jr. and Ron Cabalquinto of MKB Team-Metro Kidapawan ruled the under-17 (U17) boys doubles in the recently-concluded 11th FTC Kadayawan Badminton Tournament held at the Smash Ville Fitness Center Matina South Health Studio last August 21.
Salvado-Cabalquinto whipped the tandem of Daniel Pantanosas and Andrei Narida, 21-13, 21-12, in their championship match to pocket the P5,000 champion's purse along with medals from the organizers.
Salvado, in a Facebook chat with SunStar Davao, said that he was happy since his hard work and effort paid off.
"It was not that easy to win the title, malakas din po 'yung kalaban namin but we played the right game and we really prepared for the tournament."
Salvado added that the comfortability factor with his teammate Cabalquinto also paved way for their successful stint in the tournament.
The Salvado-Cabalquinto tandem also emerged champions in the under-17 category in the fourth Cagayan de Oro Badminton Fiesta Challenge after defeating Abby Dajero and Martin Potes of Surigao Del Sur.
