San Fernando village councilman killed in drug bust

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A village councilman from this city was killed after resisting arrest during the conduct of anti-illegal drug operations on Tuesday morning, August 1, at Alasas village.

Pampanga Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Joel Consulta identified the fatality as Aldrin Pamintuan of Magliman village, who is listed as a high value target by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Consulta said the suspect has been under surveillance for his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade as he reportedly operates in different areas around the city.

Pamintuan’s drug peddling was confirmed after he positively sold methamphetamine hydrochloride or "shabu" to a poseur buyer in a drug bust which led to his death after allegedly initiating a gun fight with police operatives.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were sachets of suspected shabu of still undetermined value and a caliber .38 revolver which he used to fire at the police.

At least 68 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P68,000 were seized by the San Fernando Drug Enforcement Unit in three separate anti-illegal drugs launched Tuesday.

This city’s chief of police Superintendent Roland Agohob said that the drug bust were conducted in the villages of Bulaon, Malpitic, and Northville Calulut where one street-level target and seven newly-identified drug personalities were arrested.
