Sara Duterte okays one-stop health service center

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has given the green light for the establishment of a P40-million one-stop facility where agencies providing health services will be set up for easy accessibility for the Dabawenyos.

The facility will be established at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

It will house the offices of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Social Welfare and Development, the City Social Service and Development Office (CSSDO) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

The construction of the two-storey building will be funded by PCSO.

It is seen to complement the Lingap Center, a free medical aid program of the local government of Davao, which is also located near SPMC.

The one-stop center aims to ease the burden of the public who are in need of assistance from concerned agencies.

"The mayor wants all the health-related agencies to be in one area to shorten the processing of patients' documents," CSSDO chief Maria Luisa Bermudo said.

The mayor said she intends to provide convenience to patients and their families, especially the indigents who rely primarily on free hospitalization services from government agencies. (PR)
