School board launches website

THE city's Local School Board (LSB) launched its website aimed to make vital information accessible on the city's elementary and secondary public schools.

Department of Education (DepEd) Davao City Division Supervisor Helen Paguican said the provision of an LSB website is highly necessary for the improvement of the city's public schools.

"The website has several features, which aids in the delivery of information. Perhaps the most important feature in the website is the Davao City School Electronic Databank where everything about a local school is in place. Nakalagaw dito kung ilan ang estudyante, enrollees, performance indicators such as participation and survival rate. Andito rin kung may kakulangan ba sa mga teachers, classrooms, upuan, lamesa and kung ano yung findings sa health ng mga estudyante," Paguican said in an interview.

"This will be very helpful in making the public know about our schools. In our programs such as Adopt a School, malaking tulong sa mga donors na alam nila kung ano yung mga talagang kakailanganin ng isang school at kung saang school ang nangangailangan ng tulong," she said.

The website is also aimed to aid educators as a quick source of information.

"This is aimed to enhance the quality of the teaching-learning environment through a professional development and support system for teachers, non-academic staff and school administrators; undertake an active role in the delivery of basic educational resources, instructional materials and equipment in elementary and secondary schools; and contribute to the total development of Filipino child to become academically competent, morally upright and globally competitive," Paguican said.

The Davao City School Board website is maintained by the Davao City DepEd MIS Unit. The website can be accessed through www.davaocityschoolboard.org. (Jade C. Zaldivar)
