SDD-CMO gears for Kadayawan

TV PERSONALITY Mikee Aportadera, who has been named as new officer-in-charge of the Davao City Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO), will have his hands full in the staging of the 2016 Kadayawan Sports Festival.

Aporterada, in an interview with SunStar Davao at his officer inside the Almendras Gym compound, said he just assumed office and has yet to receive the formal appointment from Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio.

He said they were eyeing 22 sports events to be held in Kadayawan.

"But when I looked at the budgetary requirements and the logistics probably some of them won't be accommodated since we only have a short span of time," Aporterada said.

He also said that sports programs need a lot of time for preparations.

There were also re-scheduled events suggested by SDD-CMO staff Pochollo Elegino.

"Some events that will be moved to later months just to accomodate everybody since it's been running for ilang years na, we just want to establish the formality of the event." He added.

Aportadera said that "For now, it's more of transition pa. I have to talk to the staff, I have to look at all the papers, the athletic programs and programs that were proposed."

Aportadera said his office will work in harmony with what the city mayor wants.

He also said that Mayor Inday directed him to focus on sports tourism, grassroots sports and anti-drug sports programs.

"We want the kids out of the streets and to engage more on sports and development." He said.
