CEMENT manufacturer Holcim Philippines is accepting nominations for the “Galing Mason Award 2015,” which honors the mason who shows great skill and pride in his work.
Ben Calderon of Holcim said the Galing Mason Award helps promote the professionalization of the industry.
Since 2005, the Galing Mason has helped train over 5,000 masons and has produced five grand champions, Calderon said.
Any reputable individual or organization can nominate a working mason who is between 20 and 50 years old and certified by the Technical Education and Skill Development Authority (Tesda).
Nomination kits are available at any Tesda regional and provincial office and the complete entries may also be submitted to them or to Holcim partners which include Philippine Constructors Association and Association of Construction and Informal Workers’ chapters and National Housing Authority Regional and provincial offices. Deadline for submission of nominations is August 21.
Prizes are P150,000 for the grand champion and P20,000 for those who will be included in the top 10, each of whom will also receive Tesda scholarships. (Carlito Dar/PR)
