Search on for child-friendly police station

THE City Government of Baguio through the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC) recently launched the Search for Child-Friendly Police Station during the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds.

The search aims to give recognition to the police stations who worked well concerning the protection of children in their areas of responsibility, to enhance teamwork between and among the personnel in all the police stations, and to encourage all the stations to provide programs and services to the young in a child-friendly manner.

Playing a very vital role in the protection of children, city social welfare and development officer Betty Fangasan stressed that the search will be a part of the yearly National Children’s Month celebration in the city of Baguio.

The police stations will be judged based on its accomplishment, whether proper protocol in dealing with children are being observed, the presence of a child-friendly room as well as breastfeeding corner and the attendance of personnel to child-related trainings and seminars.

The search will start next year to give proper recognition to the police force who excellently carries out their mandate concerning children. (Jho Arranz/PIO)
