A SECURITY guard was attacked by three unidentified men, who robbed a gasoline station along Circumferential Road at Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City early Thursday morning.
Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 6, identified the victim as Mario Montevilla, 30, of Barangay Granada.
Investigation showed the three robbers threatened the helper and the cashier of the gasoline station and carted away the collection amounting to P2,000. They also hit the security guard, who sustained head injuries.
The robbers fled, but left a motorcycle.
Sedel said they already identified one of the robbers, but refused to divulge his identity while the follow-up operation is ongoing.
In another incident, a car of a policeman parked along corner Hernaez Street was robbed by an unidentified man past 9 a.m., Thursday.
The owner entered a convenience store, and when he returned, he found the window on the passenger side broken, and a pouch was stolen.
A few days ago, an unidentified man stole P20,000 in cash from a grocery store at Barangay Bata.
The robber, who also carted away boxes of cigarettes, was seen in the closed circuit television (CCTV) camera.
With the occurrence of series of robbery and hold-up incidents, including those that victimized taxi drivers, Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), asked the cooperation of barangay officials in the intensified visibility patrols with the participation of barangay tanods and other volunteers.
Wanky said they will also coordinate with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) regarding vehicles that are freely traveling even without car plates.
Councilor Ricardo Tan, chairman of committee on police matters, asked the City Government and the BCPO to initiate measures to stop the burglary of parked private vehicles and arrest the perpetrators.
He urged owners of private vehicles to avoid leaving inside their cars valuable things that could invite the attention of thieves.
“I understand that many consider their cars as extension of their homes but because of these burglary cases, we should avoid leaving such things inside the car,” Tan said, adding that he also has personal experience of such incident where his windshield was broken. (With reports from TDE)
