THE increasing numbers of passengers in the various terminals around the city has forced the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) to impose tighter security though conducting continued inspections on travelers and their belongings this Holy Week.
Police Senior Inspector Ivan Viñas, chief at Police Station 3 (PS3) in Agora, revealed that even in the past week, they have been providing 24-hour security at the bus terminal and inside the buses. Inspections are being conducted by policemen both in uniform and civilian clothing.
As these inspections continue into the week, Viñas calls upon travelers to carry only handy or light baggage as the policemen have been instructed to look at passengers’ bags one by one.
“Should people require any police assistance or have any concerns or problems, there is apparently a passengers booth inside the terminal, and the police station is also quite nearby,” he said.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is also conducting surprise inspections on buses. A DC Express bus was recently prohibited from traveling after it was found having problems with its tires and carried too many passengers.
