THE increased spending power of Filipinos has fueled the continued growth of Shakey’s Pizza in the Philippines, top officials of International Family Food Services Inc., (IFFSI) said.
“Our growth is driven primarily by the increased disposal income of consumers. Consumers, especially those who are employed in high-paying industries like BPO, have seen dining out as a means to reward themselves and to socialize with other people,” said IFFSI chief executive Vicente Gregorio.
“Shakey’s, for instance, attracts discerning customers because of food and service quality at affordable cost,” he added.
IFFSI is the operator of the Shakey’s Pizza Parlor franchise in the Philippines.
Its local franchisee, Gryffinhouse Inc., which owns and manages all Shakey’s outlets in Cebu, opened last Tuesday the sixth and the biggest Shakey’s outlet in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Gregorio said the expansion signifies the growth potential in Cebu.
The new Shakey’s branch is located along F. Cabahug St. It sits on a 1,000-square meter (sq.m) property with a building footprint of 450 sq.m. The outlet can seat up to 140 persons and park 21 vehicles. It also has a function room which seats up to 80 persons.
Unlike the other Shakey’s branches in Cebu, this new dining outlet has a bar concept that serves coffee and wine, among other beverages.
Amid the growing number of players in the food sector, Gregorio said Shakey’s is growing in double-digit rates.
Shakey’s Pizza general manager Jorge Concepcion was quoted in reports that the pizza parlor chain logged average sales growth of 18 percent annually over the last 11 years. They expect slightly higher if not similar growth forecast for this year.
“We have embarked on various marketing initiatives to stay relevant in the market and further elevate the quality of service to our consumers,” said Gregorio.
Gregorio said Shakey’s is now the top brand in the pizza food category.
There are about 162 outlets of Shakey’s in the country, of which 98 branches are company-owned. This year, the company is opening 16 branches, seven of which have already opened.
Gryffinhouse managing director Allen Arvin Tan said the company will opening another Shakey’s outlet in SM Seaside City.
