ALLIANCE. The leaders of Japan and the Philippines agreed to cooperate in promoting regional peace and stability and acknowledged the importance of their alliances with the US, after President Rodrigo Duterte said he wants his country to be free of visiting American troops possibly within two years.

ASSISTANCE. More than 20,000 food packs reached the province of Apayao and Kalinga as part of the relief operations by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Cordillera region.

KILLING. A prosecutor was shot dead by an unidentified man, just as he was about to park outside the Hall of Justice in Mati City, Davao Oriental on Wednesday morning, October 26.
