SilkAir to help promote Davao

SILKAIR, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines has vowed to help promote Davao City and Davao Region as a tourist destination.

Silkair and Davao Fun Sale Execom Inc. on Monday inked an agreement during the weekly Kapehan Sa Dabaw at the SM City Annex, Davao City.

“Basically, SilkAir will help us promote Davao City and neighboring places to countries where the airline operates during this year’s Visit Davao Fun Sale (VDFS),” Benjie Lizada, president of VDFS execom, said at the sidelines of the weekly media forum.

VDFS is a 10-week destination sale and events extravaganza promoting Davao. The event runs from March 25 until May 31.

Under the memorandum of agreement, SilkAir will have a “promotions barter through the coop-marketing approach where Davao as a tourist destination which Silk Air flies to daily will appear in Silk Air’s communication venues specifically website, email blasting, social media, inflight magazine especially during the VDFS.”

“Video on Davao positioned as “Islands to Highlands: Relax, Explore, Repeat teaser: Visit Davao Fun Sale and MICE let’s meet in Davao” will be part of the roster of Silk Air in flight videos in all its flights internationally to help market the destination,” Joe Goh, SilkAir Mindanao manager said.

Other inclusion of the agreement are the in-flight announcements in all its flights not only to the Philippines but internationally specially Feeder connections to Davao and the 15 round-trip ticket Davao-Singapore-India annually will be provided by SilkAir to be used for raffle prizes, media promotions, and India Activation to help increase tourist market even to feeder destinations which SilkAir connects which is spread out in two years 2016-2017.

SilkAir presently operates to 49 destinations across 13 countries in Asia.
