Sing!

IF there’s one thing Filipinos love aside from eating in groups, it’s eating in groups while belting out at the karaoke. It doesn’t matter if you can hold a tune or not—what matters is one sings a song to his heart’s content, preferably in a dim room with friends who would never judge. When the going gets tough—high notes or fast raps—that’s the best time to unleash the inner performer that begs to be let out.

Thankfully, Cebu has many karaoke joints that could cater to every Cebuano’s love for singing. Here are two of the newest karaoke places in the metro that would certainly make music-filled memories.

Sunflower Bistro and KTV

Mahogany Place, Pope John Paul II Ave., Kasambagan, Cebu City

A family business, Sunflower Bistro and KTV hails from Butuan and is the first branch in Cebu. This karaoke bar is well suited for a group of friends since it is very affordable but never sacrifices quality. With great equalizer themed interiors, ultramodern karaoke equipment and delicious food and drinks, it’s hard not to have a great time.

The place has eight rooms—four small rooms that could fit seven to 10 people and four regular rooms that could fit 12 to 15 people. Apart from their scrumptious food, they also have giant desserts, like the halo-halo, which can easily be shared by about six people.

Head on down to Sunflower Bistro and KTV from 2 to 6 p.m. and enjoy its Happy Hour rates at P45 for the small rooms and P75 for the regular rooms. Now that’s an afternoon well spent!

Playlist KTV

Meerea High Street, Mandaue City

Reopened last June 15, Playlist KTV is a great place for big groups, with four VIP rooms that could cater to up to 35 to 40 people and that have their own comfort rooms. It’s a lovely venue for small parties that could easily turn into a full-fledged concert. Aside from their VIP rooms, they have 13 regular rooms and even a room for couples.

Coming inside the family-friendly KTV house, one would see a mural of musical artists, which a lot of their customers love to make a background of their groufies. Going inside any of their rooms, customers would emulate these musical artists as they go on a musical rampage.

Playlist KTV has a state-of-the-art karaoke system that is updated with new songs every month, so young people shouldn’t fret—you can easily sing an Ariana Grande song or any of the new radio hits of today.

Aside from being a great place to sing your heart out, Playlist KTV has great food and drinks that would definitely make the whole experience even more fun. There’s nothing like munching on some Buffalo wings while waiting to sing that Celine Dion song.
