MAYOR Gamar Janihim of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte, said the Municipal Government is giving cash reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the neutralization and arrest of drug pushers operating in the town.
Janihim said each informant will receive P10,000 for every drug pusher they can positively identify.
The grant of cash reward is aimed to eradicate the problems on illegal drugs and to make Sirawai a drug-free town, he added.
“Kung wala ng nagbebenta, wala na rin mabibilhan ng droga kahit gusto pang bumili ang mga users. Wala na rin mabibiktima sa illegal na droga,” Janihim said, as he considers the users as victims of the illegal drug trade.
He said all information will be properly verified to ensure that the person identified by the informant is really a drug pusher.
He said all information will be kept confidential to protect the informant.
Janihim said the informant may visit his office or provide the information through the contact number that will be posted in conspicuous place in the town proper.
He said the grant of reward is also aimed to force the other drug pushers who are still continuing their illegal drug trade to come out and surrender.
On Thursday, September 1, Janihim administered the oath of undertaking of the 10 drug pushers who were among the 312 drug personalities that surrendered to the authorities in Sirawai.
Janihim said his campaign to make this town a drug-free municipality will continue even though President Rodrigo Duterte named him as one of the drug protectors, an accusation he vehemently denied.
Janihim said he started the anti-drug campaign since he was elected as mayor of Sirawai municipality. He is now on his second term of office.
He said it pains him, as there are some group who wanted to destroy his administration despite him able to bring development in the remote town of Sirawai.
Sirawai, which is composed of 34 villages, is a fourth-class municipality with a population of 24,583 as of 2010 census. (Sunnex)
