SJS-LS Shieldz, BCHS Avengers top alumni bowlfest eliminations

ST. JOSEPH School-La Salle (SJS-LS) Shieldz and Bacolod City High School (BCHS) Avengers will lead the lottery for lane assignments on August 23 after leading the bracketing elimination round in the ongoing 3rd Inter-School Alumni Bowlfest 2015 at Negros Super Lanes at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

First place finisher SJS-LS Shieldz, anchored by Elmer Libo-on, recorded 7,824 total pinfalls to top the elimination round in Bracket A.

The nine other teams were BCHS Tigers, Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) Novhientas/KMH, NOHS Dekada '90s, NOHS Strikers/Davies, BCHS The Fighters, Domingo Lacson National High School (DLNHS) RJ Stars Bounty Strikers, BCHS Antic, NOHS Matrix, and Bacolod Tay Tung High School Bowlers.

Shieldz is spearheaded by Carmelo Alimon, Edgar Altajeros, Mae Memoracion, Isok Villarosa, and Mulo Ramos.

Eleventh placer BCHS Avengers, headed by team captain Sylvia del Rosario, meanwhile, accumulated 7,267 pfs to head bracket B.

It will contest nine other teams – Hervias National High School Intruders, NOHS Pinbusters, NOHS Incredibowls, DLNHS Lacsonian Mixers, BCHS Conquerors, NOHS Bowlgunners, NOHS Palawud, NOHS Thunderbowls, and BCHS Warriors.

The Avengers are Razel Goyon, Helen Alarcon, Ronilo Palma, Philip Alayon, Theresa Jalbuena, Dennis and Estrella Mendoza, Voltaire Vaflor, and Noela Borja.

Individual achievers are highest pinning awardee Raymund Galvan of NOHS Matrix with 93 pfs and Grace Diopenes of NOHS Novhientas/KMH with 95 pfs.

The highest single was awarded to Essho Garcia of Novhientas/KMH with 168 pfs and Ann Dayot of NOHS Strikers/Davies with 140.

The highest triple was pocketed by Galvan with 402 pfs, and team-highest single and triple by the NOHS Matrix with 582 pfs and 1,617 pfs.

Scores shall be back to zero in the five-round bracketing finals and foul lines must be observed, according to organizers whose festival aims to nurture camaraderie and fellowship between high school alumni associations or federations in Bacolod. It also promotes duckpin bowling as a recreational sport to enjoy with family and close friends, the organizers added.

Step-ladder finals and the consolation games will be played on September 27. (HGD)
