SKYcables’s SkyZone brings home entertainment to the malls

WITH everyone’s busy schedule, time for quality entertainment is inevitably shortened at home. This was the challenge that the Philippines’ leading cable company, SKYcable, took as they showcased SkyZone at SM City Cebu last March 28-30.

Presented simultaneously in Cebu, Davao, and Manila, mall-goers experienced first-hand the new offerings of SKYcable.

Gel Reyes, SKYcable’s head for marketing in Central Visayas, said, “SkyZone is a way to be approached easier by subscribers since our main branch is at Mandaue.” She added, “This is also the best time to show our latest products and services.”

The centerpiece of SkyZone was a cozy mini living room with four wide screens and couches where everyone was welcome to watch SKYcable’s HD channels.

Aside from the free film showing, families, friends, and mall-goers alike also loosened up and had fun with SkyZone games. Participants enjoyed a series of puzzle contests where they were challenged to rearrange HBO series’ posters as quickly as they can. Winning contestants went home with limited edition HBO caps and notebooks.

Also available at SkyZone was a free speed-testing of SKYcable broadbands.

Now in its third year to provide quality entertainment for mallgoers, SkyCable partnered with HBO channel. With that, they especially highlighted HBO Go, a website where SKYcable subscribers can access any HBO movies and series, including uncut versions. Subscribers can even create their own archive of movies at the website, and can register up to three gadgets. HBO Go, which is only available in Singapore and Philipines, can be accessed through

An addition of 10 new high-definition channels was likewise introduced by SKYcable.

With a total of 180 channels both standard and HD, SKYcable has the highest number of channels to bring to their subscribers.

Another fresh feature by SKYcable is the i-record box, a gadget which can be used by subscribers to record any TV shows. Only an external drive with a minimum of 320GB is needed to store the recorded shows, and subscribers need not worry anymore about missing their favorite shows.

With the rising demand for a high quality entertainment, SkyCable surely aims to please and deliver as they plan to hold the SkyZone event two to four times in a year. (Casey Moncal)
