PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Lorraine Badoy as Communications Undersecretary.
This was confirmed Wednesday by Social Welfare acting Secretary Emmanuel Leyco in a text message sent to Sun.Star.
Leyco said Badoy's stint at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will end by October 31.
Leyco wished Badoy success in her new assignment as an official of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
"ASec. Badoy has informed me as OIC (officer-in-charge) Secretary at DSWD of this development earlier and is now in the process of completing and turning over her responsibilities, which are expected to last until the end of the month," Leyco told Sun.Star.
"I thank Asec Badoy for her contributions to DSWD and I am confident that she will be able to bring her effectiveness as a communicator to her new assignment as USec at PCOO," he added.
Prior to her new assignment, Badoy was picked in February as assistant secretary of Department of Social Welfare and Development who was tasked to implement the medical assistance to drug dependents who seek rehabilitation.
Badoy was a staunch supporter of Duterte on social media.
She is the daughter of former Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Anacleto Badoy Jr., who chaired the anti-graft court's third division that heard the plunder case of former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada over gambling money. (SunStar Philippines)
