Some quarters trying to drive wedge between Roxas, Poe - Lacierda
SOME quarters were trying to destroy the relationship of Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II and Senator Grace Poe, a Palace official said Tuesday.
This was after Poe said there could be some members of the ruling Liberal Party (LP) who might be behind the disqualification case against her.
"There are attempts by some quarters to drive a wedge between Secretary Mar and Senator Poe," said Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda in a text message to media.
Lacierda did not say who these people are.
He said that it does not make sense to invite Poe by Roxas to be his running mate and "at the same time, attack her."
Roxas, a member of LP, has formally offered Poe to be his running mate in the 2016 elections.
Some members of LP were allegedly behind the disqualification case filed against Poe by Rizalito David, a defeated senatorial bet of Kapatiran Party in the 2013 polls.
David claimed that Poe, the leader in recent surveys among potential presidential bets, was not a Filipino citizen.
"Mar Roxas believes she (Poe) is a Filipino," Lacierda said. (SDR/Sunnex)
