SP to probe illegal structures along Punta Taytay shoreline

THE Bacolod City Council will conduct an investigation on the alleged construction of illegal structures along the shoreline of Purok Makawiwili in Barangay Punta Taytay.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of committee on laws, ordinances and good government, said on Monday they received a complaint from the Barangay Punta Taytay Marginalized Fisherfolk Marketing Cooperative (BPMFMC) against Jacinto Alcala on the continued building of alleged illegal structures.

Such construction distracts the livelihood of residents in the area, he said.

The investigation will be led by the committees on laws, ordinances and good government; fisheries and aquatic resources; and environment and ecology.

“We will know if there is a violation or a permit. If it is illegal, he should stop the construction,” Distrito said.

He said the fisher folk were complaining that the illegal structures have already affected their livelihood.
