SPC Sharks return home winless

BETTER luck next time. The Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC) Sharks have to make good next year after returning home winless in the just concluded 1st National Collegiate 3x3 Basketball grand finals on Saturday in Taguig City.

The SPC Sharks, this year’s 3-on-3 Mindanao champions, could not pull a single win, but went to narrow loses. They engaged in a tight match with NCAA 3x3 champion and this year’s grand final champion Arellano University, 26-30, in the penultimate fourth round of the single round robin elimination.

“Mao ra sab na ang ipahinambog nga nakadikit sila,” said SPC coach Rey Dangcal. The Sharks lost their first match against Metro Manila champion Our Lady of Fatima University, 34-39, followed by a 45-48 setback to Don Mariano State University.

SPC’s biggest loss was handed by the Laguna champions who clipped them, 52-30 after also yielding to the University of Visayas Green Lancers, 44-53.

“Kulang og hangin ug stamina. Kaya baya kay ang tulo nila ka dula apil sa Arellano sikit lang,” said sports coordinator Marcelo Reambonanza, who accompanied the team. (Jaime A. Frias II)
