THE biggest membership shopping establishment in the city, S&R Davao, is bringing back its “Members’ Treat” promo on September 30 until October 2 as the warehouse shopping club celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
The “S&R Members’ Treat” will enable shopping members to enjoy big savings through Buy one Take one deals and discounts that could reach up to 50 percent off on merchandises in all the shop’s departments from food to non-food products.
“We are expecting a heavy crowd, usually it is three to even five times bigger than our average weekend crowd at 3,000 shoppers,” Sheila Mae Lagsub, S&R Davao assistant warehouse manager, said in an interview with SunStar Davao Monday afternoon at the warehouse located at Matina, Davao City.
The members’ treat is the company’s way of giving back to all its avid shoppers the support for years.
The Davao branch was publicly launched last 2013.
Lagsub added that the members’ treat was done twice a year in March and September of 2013 but was stopped in 2014 and 2015 by the management.
“Last 2014, we changed the concept, we thought that instead of just staging a sale twice every year, it would be better if we just drop our prices daily instead of having them (member shoppers) waiting for only two sales in a year,” Lagsub said.
But for this year, Lagsub said, they revived their biggest sales event due to public demand and also in line with company’s 10th anniversary.
There is still no definite plan if the members’ treat will be staged again yearly.
For the three-day sale event, the warehouse will open early at 8 a.m., an hour early than its regular opening hours (9 a.m.) and will close at 9 p.m.
Based on its previous “members’ treats”, among the most bought items are towels and comforters.
“We had already massive displays of towels, comforters and we are planning to add more because usually these are saleable. For only P299 to P300 plus you can enjoy our buy one take one towels, also for our tire center, we offer three plus one promo,” Lagsub said.
For food items, fresh section offers buy one kilo get ½ kilo free and bakery also offers buy one take one.
Meanwhile, for its food services, if one will buy one pizza (New York style), the next pizza will only be sold at P250.
For this sale event, S&R also is offering, even this early, Christmas and Halloween discounts.
Lagsub said that they started offering promos last week to cater those who prefer not to fit in the crowded warehouse this coming weekend.
S&R items are composed of 80 percent imported and 20 percent local.
Thriving business
Three years after the company expanded in Davao, Lagsub said they have noted positive growth in terms of sales yearly.
“We are proud that ever since we opened like this year, since January to September we are projecting a positive growth versus last year, we even have lots of investors coming in,” Lagsub said.
The Davao branch started with only 15,000 members but it grew up to 300 to 400 percent after three years.
Bulk of its members is outside Davao City. Market profile is mostly under Class A. But products offered in the warehouse are also affordable to those who belong to segment B and C.
Lagsub also shared that on the recent bombing incident in the city last September 2, the warehouse’s foot traffic was not affected.
She said it might be because with their membership and exclusivity concept which made the shoppers feel safer.
With the upcoming sale event, which bigger crowd is expected, Lagsub assured its member shoppers that they will heighten their security measures.
Asked on expansion plans here, Lagsub said they are presently eyeing two spots in the city where they can operate its food service/pizza parlors.
She said it will be somewhere in the Northern part of the city and inside Felcris Centrale in Quimpo Boulevard.
Presently, S&R food service/pizza parlor has one branch in Abreeza Ayala Mall.
Before the year ends, S&R branches will reach 11 warehouses as it is set to open in Iloilo City.
Other operating branches aside from Davao are located in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Congressional Avenue, Quezon City, Alabang, ASEANA-Baclaran, Cebu City, Pampanga City, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, Imus, Cavite and Nuvali, Laguna.
For those who wish to become members of S&R, one must be 18 years old and above, preset two valid ID’s and pay membership fee of P700 valid for one year.
