SSS brings ‘AlkanSSSya program’ to 26 groups, gov't agencies

THE AlkanSSSya Program of the Social Security Systems (SSS) Accounts Management Section (AMS) already reached its services to 13 informal sector groups and 13 government agencies in Davao City.

According to the Davao City SSS-AMS team head Eillen de la Cruz, the program now extends its service to around 50 inmates, most of which are females, in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Maa.

She said these inmates get their income from creating bags and pouches inside the prison which they learned through the different livelihood trainings and seminars given to them. Some of them also accept laundry services.

Aside from that, the program has also been beneficial to farmers reaching areas in the city like Paquibato and Sasa. Now, more or less 1,000 members of the informal sectors are benefiting from the SSS Alkansya Program.

“The program was further modified to reach to our Job Order (JO) employees in the government agencies since they are not yet covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). Some of them are already members of SSS but can’t pay continuously since they have to pay their SSS contributions on their own,” said de la Cruz.

The similar program which was catered to JO employees was called Kalta SSS Program covering those who are working for the local government units (LGU) and National Government Agencies.

Currently, JO employees from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, the Southern Philippines Medical Center, and most recently the Davao City Water District and the archdiocese of Davao had joined in the Kalta SSS Program making up the more than 2,000 JO employees in the city to be benefiting of the program. Every month, a total amount of P330 are deducted from their salaries.
