Sunshine Cruz supports stepson Diego Loyzaga amid tiff with father

SUNSHINE Cruz doesn't want to get involved with father and son Cesar Montano and Diego Loyzaga's rift but says she's worried of the latter.

In an interview with the television actress during the "Wildflower" press conference, Cruz said she already texted Loyzaga to check on his situation.

She's saddened that Loyzaga had no choice but to broadcast family problem on social media.

"As his Tita and as someone close to him, siyempre malungkot ako sa nangyayari. I'm really very worried about him. I'm just here to support him. Nandito kami, nagmamahal sa kanya."

Early this week, Loyzaga took to Instagram to air his annoyance over Montano.

The young actor alleged that his father threatened him to be arrested by the police if he will not stop using illegal drugs, which the former denied.

He even called Montano "hypocrite" after the latter obligated him to take five drug tests, which turned out negative.

"Pang limang drug test na ipinagawa niyo sakin lahat negative pero lakas parin ng loob mo na pag bintangan akong adik," Loyzaga wrote.

The Star Magic artist added: "Asahan niyo na pag ako nawala bigla o makita niyo nalang ako sa news na pinatay ako dahil daw drug adik/pusher o kaya na accident at namatay, alam niyo na kung bakit."

Loyzaga is Montano’s son with actress Teresa Loyzaga. Montano is also married but separated with Cruz, with whom he has three daughters.

Meanwhile, Cruz revealed that she's in communication with Loyzaga's mother, actress Teresa Loyzaga, who is currently in the Philippines.

The actress also vouched for Loyzaga's character. She said Diego is a "good kid".

"I'm really very close to Diego and Teresa. Pupunta sa bahay yan, nakikipaglaro ng PS4 sa mga kapatid niya. And dumaan yan nung New Year sa akin kasi Teresa was in Australia."

"Wala kayong narinig na kahit ano sa bata. I guess lahat ng tao ay may hangganan."

In the end, Cruz said she hopes everything will turn out for the best for all parties involved.

"Ayaw po nating hanggang maaari na makisawsaw diyan kasi wala po tayong kinalama. But I really love Diego. And my kids are very proud and they love Diego," she ended.

As of this posting, Montano has remained mum on the issue. (SunStar Philippines)
