SUNSTAR Davao reporters and editors are among the shortlisted nominees for this year’s Globe Media Excellence Awards.
Stella Estremera, editor in chief of SunStar Davao, was nominated for four categories - Reporter for Print, Columnist of the Year, the Best Explanatory/Investigative Story, and Reporter for Online News Portal.
She made it to the list through her articles: Empowerment - When poor people take up the cudgels for each other, under Reporter for Print category; Citizenship in action, under Best Columnist; A DREAM REALIZED: Poor children with cancer get better fighting chance, under Best Explanatory/Investigative Story, and; 46 years and counting: Boys Town Davao fires up dreams for Reporter for Online News Portal.
Former SunStar Davao editor, and also last year’s winner for the Reporter for Print Award, Rhealyn Pojas, also made it the shortlist of Reporter for Print through her article: Protecting their domain.
Social Media Specialist Ace June Rell Perez and reporter Juliet Revita completed the list for the Best Explanatory Story, and Reporter for Print, respectively.
Perez’s entry: What it takes to be child friendly landed him a nomination while Revita made it to the list through her article, Trafficker’s prey: The young and helpless.
The winners will be announced during the GMEA Recognition Night today at Marco Polo Davao.
GMEA is an annual activity that recognizes journalists, not just for print but also for television and radio, who have excelled in their field of work.
