Suspect in minor’s slay now detained

ONE of the two assailants who killed a student in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday was arrested in a hot pursuit operation at Barangay Patag early Friday morning.

Collared was Donald Monsay, 28, a native of Cadiz City.

On January 4, Christian Pinson, 17, of Barangay Katilingban, Talisay City, was on his way to school with his two siblings when Monsay and his unidentified companion blocked their way at Sitio Lantawan, Barangay Guimbalaon.

According to the police, Monsay shot Pinson in the stomach while his companion fatally hit the victim in the head.

Superintendent Noel Polines, city police chief, said Monsay was positively identified by the younger siblings of the victim through the station’s rogues’ gallery.

Polines said Monsay denied his involvement in the crime, but the victim’s family will pursue murder charges against him and his companion.

Police failed to recover the firearm used by the suspects.

Polines said that Monsay was arrested for alarm and scandal last December 24. (GYM)
