Suspected bomb maker nabbed in North Cotabato

POLICEMEN, assisted by the Army, arrested a suspected bomb-making trainee and seized bomb-making materials from a house in M’lang, North Cotabato, on Wednesday.

Policemen from South Cotabato led by Superintendent Emmanuel Peralta, along with soldiers, raided the house of one Anwar Sandigan at sitio Maulad, Barangay Dungguan in M’lang in the outskirts of Liguasan Marsh.

Sandigan, however, allegedly a bomb-making expert trained by terrorist Marwan, managed to escape.

Sandigan, a graduate of the M'lang National High School, was reportedly one of the young radicals trained by Malaysian terrorist Marwan who was killed in another raid in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last year where 44 members of the Special Action Force were also killed.

A young man believed to be a trainee was arrested. However, he insists he was just taking a rest at the house after doing some farm work.

Seized were cellphones that have already been rigged up with wires, a 9-volt battery, circuit board, blasting cap, two grenades, a gun with a silencer, a rod used for landmines, and bomb-making literature.

The arrested young man has been placed at the M’lang Lockup Cell.

Dungguan Barangay Captain Jose Sagadan said they do not know the young man who was arrested and that Sandigan does not go out of his house often.

Sagadan said they were surprised upon learning that bombs are being made inside the house.
