Suspects in recent robbery gunned down

ANGELES CITY -- Two suspects from a recent robbery incident here were killed in a shootout with operatives of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO).

The suspects were identified as John Ray Atienza and one alias “Lincon.”

Police said that at 6:30 a.m., April 6, personnel of Police Station (PS) 4, while conducting a mobilized patrol along Jose Laurel Avenue, Barangay Anunas, Angeles City chanced upon a Hi-Ace van that matched the description of the vehicle used in a recent robbery incident on April 5, at Sydney Hotel located at 1934 Sampaguita Street, Clarkview, Barangay Malabanias, this city.

Authorities said that the patrolling personnel immediately provided the information to the tracker team of PS4 who were monitoring the said place and also notified the intelligence operatives of ACPO.

Police added that the tracker team responded and sighted the van in the vicinity and followed it. Upon sensing that they were being tailed, the van’s occupants rushed toward the west direction resulting to a brief chase, until suspects were blocked by operatives.

The suspects fired at the pursuing cops prompting the latter to return fire that resulted to the death of the two suspects.

Police Station 4 operatives are is still conducting follow-up and hot pursuit operations for the other two members who escaped during the encounter. (JTD)
