SWS: Duterte maintains ‘very good’ net satisfaction score

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte was able to keep his “very good” net satisfaction rating for the first quarter of 2017 amid the impeachment complaint filed against him in March.

According to Social Weather Stations (SWS), Duterte’s net satisfaction rating remained unchanged from December with +63 or “very good.”

The President’s rating saw a nine-point drop in Luzon to +51 (from +60 in December) but scored 13 points increase in Mindanao to +87 (from +74) and a point up in Visayas to +62.

The poll noted that despite a decline in Duterte’s rating in balance Luzon, an increase in his bailiwick Mindanao served as a cushion to offset its effect.

Data showed that 75 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the President’s performance in the first quarter, while 12 percent were undecided and 12 percent said they were dissatisfied.

The survey likewise revealed that Duterte was able to keep his “very good” rating across socioeconomic classes with those belonging to class ABC giving him +56, class D scoring him +64, and class E delivering +60.

Ratings of at least +70, as per SWS, is classified “excellent,” while +50 to +69 is considered “very good” and +30 to +49 is seen as “good."

Conducted last March 25-28 among 1,200 adults across the country, the survey has a sampling error margins of ±3 points nationwide and ±6 percent each in all regions.

Among the issues hounding Duterte in that period was the impeachment complaint filed against him at the House of Representatives by Magdalo lawmaker Gary Alejano.
