Taiheiyo builds another mill

TAIHEIYO Cement Philippines, Inc. (TCPI) has further expanded its manufacturing facilities in San Fernando by adding its eighth finish mill for the company to meet

the rising demand for cement.

Company officials witnessed the ground-breaking at the site within the TCPI complex recently, along with officials of materials supplier and port operator Solid Earth Development Corp. and the contractors.

To meet the demand for cement, driven by growth in real estate development and an increase in public works, TCPI management proposed the installation of an 8K cement mill system that the Board of Directors approved with a capital outlay of at least P663 million.

Clinker is mixed with additives in the finish mill to produce cement types needed for constructon, including Portland, Pozzolan, Premium and Masonry cement.

Japan-based Taiheiyo Engineering Corp. (TEC) designed the mill system for this project, a tube type that applies a new technology that uses a slide-shoe support system and has a capacity to produce 128 tons per hour.

The facility is now being constructed by Primary Structures, Inc. (PSI).

TEC Managing Director Hiromi Fujimori came with his team for the ground-breaking and to provide PSI engineers the needed technical guidance.

As of mid-May, the pinion gear of the facility had been installed and aligned, along with its Y-rubber seal and the girth gear cover and support structure, said Buhisan.

The project is expected to be commissioned by the end of September this year. (PR)
