THE dictionary describes ‘art’ as a quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful or has a more than ordinary significance. The same can be said about “The Bean Hive,” located at the 3rd floor of Lagsa Building, Pabayo-Hayes street. Their artisanal vibe definitely has to do with their unique concept of having a café and a gallery in one shop, where customers can relax and dine with coffee, dessert, or a full meal while embracing culture and the arts.
“We treat the customers as the busy bees [who] are so busy with their activities. When they come here in The Bean Hive, [we want them to] experience relaxation,” marketing manager GB Ligue said in an interview with Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro last July 7.
And treat with relaxation they do: the shop itself is in a space in Divisoria where not much noise from the hustle and bustle of the city can be heard. Their interior revolves around three colors: black and white for simplicity and red for elegance. It is designed by one of XU Circulo de Arte’s artist and one of the owners of The Bean Hive.
They pair their interior with classical music or religious mellows that can create a serene environment. Their food is from their own recipe, and is absolutely delicious and affordable (their price range is from P18 – P68). From spicy and non-spicy rice meals to desserts to cold drinks with brewed coffee, The Bean Hive has got you covered with exquisite food without hurting your wallets.
GB promises that a lot of things, events and promotions are still in store for The Bean Hive, in their quest of proving to everyone that no one is too young to be successful. He said that they will be offering more food on the menu to keep the customers coming and satisfied. They will also have art events and gatherings similar to their Poetry Night where customers come in with their feelings expressed in the form of poetry.
On these special events, The Bean Hive offers a 50% discount on their food to the customers who attend these events. More artworks will be displayed in the café as well which is open for other local artists to display their pieces in The Bean Hive.
