Thousands join Anti-Marcos protests in Edsa

A MASSIVE protest action calling for the removal of the remains of the late President Ferdinand Marcos from the Libingan ng mga Bayani was held Wednesday at the People Power Monument in Quezon City.

Groups composing of students, martial law victims and their families gathered along the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue, not to honor Filipino revolutionary Andres Bonifacio, but to call for the government's action on the hasty burial of the late strongman last November 18.

About 10,000 anti-Marcos rallyists urged the Duterte administration to hold the Marcoses accountable for the crimes they committed during the martial law and for proceeding with the hasty burial that caught the nation is surprise.

The rallyists also urged the Supreme Court to exhume the remains of Marcos buried at the LNMB as he is "not a hero."

University of the Philippines Professor Winnie Monsod, Former Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman, former Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda, former Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II, APO Hiking Society singer Jimmy Paredes also joined the event.

The rally in Manila is part of the nationwide protest against the Marcos burial at the heroes' cemetery.

This is the second massive protest against the late president's burial and the return of the Marcoses in MalacaƱang. The last worldwide rally was held last Friday, November 25. (Sunnex)
