Toastmaster artists and their icebreaker exhibit

IT IS a very rare opportunity that you will find paintings and drawings from different Toastmasters on display for Kadayawan 2017 at the Grub Resto and Cafe located in Duterte Street, Davao City.

A three-week art exhibition, which started August 11, 2017 and will last up to August 31, 2017, was curated expressly for these icebreaker painters. The exhibit was formally opened by former congresswoman Luz Ilagan and hosted by Dennis Sto. Domingo, both Toastmasters themselves. This is now attracting Dabawenyos who are feasting their eyes, and in some cases their mouths, on nearly 60 masterpieces.

The idea is the brainchild of longtime Toastmasters in Davao City who were inspired by the fun they got from expressing their talents in painting. The art exhibit also attempts to connect with the Kadayawan festival. The works of art are all strategically placed and grouped according to its medium and topic. Featured are elaborate display of pencil sketches, colored pens, pastels, acrylic and oil, with subjects ranging from landscapes, still life and pop art.

Since it is Kadayawan, symbols of the festival like durian, rambutan, orchids and the Philippine Eagle can be seen.

The 11-artist team is composed of Toastmasters' bigwigs and prominent government leaders as follows: Toastmasters International Director and Past District Governor Elisa Tay, Past District Governors Judge Virginia Europa, Adelina Royo, Victor Navales, Dorothy Du.

Also in the group are Past Division Governors Ninio Sepulveda and Judge Loida Kahulugan; Area Director and former NBI Deputy Director Dimpna Dulay, Past Area Director and Pathways Ambassador Nem Ledda, Bench and Bar President Percy Abian-Fuñe and Judge Norma Calatrava. These artists who first soaked up their art vibes under the guidance of Dadai Joaquin, said that, “this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and the most unforgettable.” It is a symphony of trying hard to harder and hardest art painting coverage that will bring a heart-pounding sense of display to any art aficionados.
