Toledo City village chief arrested for illegal guns, ammos

A VILLAGE official and two others were caught by authorities for keeping unlicensed firearms in a raid in Barangay Cambang-ug, Toledo City, at 5 a.m. Wednesday, September 13.

Malubog village chief Antonio Yumol Canonigo was caught by the operatives of Regional Intelligence Division-Regional Special Operations Group in his business establishment in Cambang-ug.

A new Cobra Sarsilmaz shotgun, six shotgun ammos, a .9mm Daewoo pistol, two magazines, 24 bullets of .9mm pistol and five bullets of .45 pistol were seized from Canonigo's possession.

Canonigo's brother-in-law and employee Ceperino Caray Sanchez yielded a .45 pistol, a magazine and seven bullets.

The village chief's other employee Victor Juarez Cabusas also yielded a .45 pistol, a magazine and seven bullets.

The operation was authorized by a search warrant issued by Danao City Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Jerry Dicdican. (KAL)
