Town in Abra backs peace process

A RESOLUTION was recently by members of the Municipal Council of Dolores in Abra supporting the peace negotiations between the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) and the Government of the Philippines (GPH) after the successful first round of talks between the two groups in Oslo, Norway.

“The Municipality of Dolores is very proud to announce the Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council) of Dolores has passed a resolution in support of the peace process between the NDFP and the GPH, under the leadership of our beloved President Rodrigo Duterte,” said Mayor Robert Victor Seares Jr, who has been a staunch supporter of the peace process even before the Duterte administration.

The Municipal Council's resolution entitled “A resolution endorsing and supporting the peace talks between the National Democratic Front and the Government of the Philippines” was authored by Councilor Fredelito Quinto.

“We would like to express our continuing support to the peace process pushed by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte with the NDFP. We are one with the Filipino people in achieving just and lasting peace, progress and national reconciliation for our country. We must strive hard and make the people understand the importance of such a momentous event in our history,” added Seares.

Seares also said the town is watching the peace process very closely and happy the first round of talks in Oslo, Norway was fruitful despite the challenges.

The resolution passed by the Municipal Council is the first resolution of such outside of Metro Mania. (PR)
