Toyota initiates road safety course for Oro drivers

AS PART of their annual advocacy to promote road safety and defensive driving among public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers, Transpecial Incorporated, in collaboration with the Carmen Valley Lodge 250, held its 6th free defensive driving course for Northern Mindanao PUJ drivers at Toyota Cagayan de Oro last December 4.

"With all the cases of accidents involving PUJs nowadays, it is better if we continue to teach our PUJ drivers about the matters that they have to remember about driving," said Anne Marie Orcullo, of Transpecial Incorporated.

About sixty PUJ drivers attended the course.

The course dealt with issues surrounding road safety and defensive driving especially with multiple individuals in a vehicle.

Lawyer Alfred Lord Tennyson Gaccion was also present to orient the PUJ drivers about the laws and legalities surrounding PUJ driving.

"PUJ driving is not only a job that should be take easily. We must all remember that it is not only ours but also many lives are involved every time we go outside and do our jobs. So I am hoping that the issues that were tackled here today are beneficial in a way that we will not forget about them once we finish," said Erwin Pio Bollozos, President of Transpecial Incorporated.

"Indeed as a participant of this course I realized so any things that I was taking lightly before. To be fast in the highways or even in the maid roads I used to ignore some of the most basic safety precautions that was taught today. As a PUJ driver, I must remember now that safety always comes first," said Enrico De Torre, a PUJ driver from Cagayan de Oro City.
